Briefly define the nature of your concentration project.
I focused on the form of teapots and the unconventional ways in which we can view them. I tried to create a varied sense of the traditional teapot. Through a multitude of techniques, I created unity by combining independent structural components into harmonious forms.
Briefly describe the development of your concentration project and the sources of your ideas. You may refer to specific slides as examples.
Inspired by my years of experience in ceramics, I originally began with throwing forms on the wheel, sculpting, using slabs, and extruding materials in my pieces. Eventually, I began experimenting with the unique qualities of wood, as seen in my teapot box in which I used simple structures combined with the complexity of laminating, as well as focusing on wood's tendency to burn.
What medium or media did you use?
I used various media including wood, ceramic, copper, steel, glass, wire mesh, and stone in my pieces.
