Premiere of AP Studio Art Digital Portfolio Submission and Scoring
| | Over 35,000 portfolios were submitted in spring 2009 with the inaugural AP Studio Art digital submission process. Comparing digital submission to the previous slide-based submission process, one teacher noted appreciatively that her students had two extra weeks to work on their art with the new digital submission, since they no longer had to schedule for slide processing. Submitting portfolios digitally was cost-saving for many schools as well, since slide costs were eliminated, and many teachers and students said that submitting portfolios digitally was easier than submitting with slides. The evaluation process used at the AP Studio Art Reading was also improved with the new digital scoring application . With digital scoring, Readers could more clearly and easily view both individual works and entire portfolio sections.
AP Studio Art teachers, students, AP Coordinators, and AP Readers completed surveys to provide the AP Program with feedback regarding the AP Studio Art Digital submission and scoring processes. Survey results are driving
improvements for 2010, including increased server capacity.
